The conclusion of My Heart To Fear is completely fantastic. We begin right where we left off. Ali is in a mental facility because her husband, Eric, put her there when she tried to kill herself and him. All false as we know but it seems luck has not been on her side when dealing with her monster of a husband.Eric has done the unimaginable to Ali…..she would like him dead. He’s taking away her liberties, lied to her, hurt her in every way a person can be hurt….but does she still love him? Is there a fine line between hate and love? Once it’s crossed….can you go back?
Eric has his reasons for his complete, well, just mean’ness. He’s just that - mean. As usual something traumatic happened to him as a child. However, for Eric it wasn’t one thing and he was completely a child. At sixteen a super storm of events took place. His family, his body, his friends, his mind, his outlook on life…all drastically changed. Can Ali be the one thing in the world to bring him back to the wonderful person he was before all this? She is his light but she also has demons of her own and needs of her own. Can two people with both light and dark qualities make it?
There’s so many things that happen and I would love to give my opinion and talk about them all but I can’t spoil it!!! I will give you a tiny hint of things that happen….two different people take a hit out on someone, pregnancies, break ups, marriage, family feuds, hospitalizations by a couple of characters, a trip to Spain, police, bodyguards and much more. There’s also the truths that needs to come out between all members of both families.
I think my favorite was watching them figure things out for themselves. Seeing them cope with other people’s past, their own demons and trying to find their way. Do they? Well I can’t tell you that!! I can tell you it’s definitely worth the read!!! This is not a stand-alone - you will need to read the first book, My Heart To Fear.
Lulu….OMG you are fantastic!!! Loved this two-part series. It’s exactly enough story without being overly long. It’s the perfect part of dark and light, of bad and good. Even the good have flaws and it makes the story relatable and human. And I must say the right amount of heat vs. romance! Really so fantastic!

*First book "My Heart to Fear" should be read first. This book can not be considered a stand-alone*
The fist book left us, as readers, in the precarious situation of hating the author for the agonizing cliffhanger but loving her story and her characters. This book begins with the ongoing struggle of Ali Damien's relationship with her husband Eric Damien. The transgressions that Eric has imposed upon Ali are unforgivable as well as criminal. As Ali learns more about herself and those around her she finally sees through the veil of mistrust but can she determine friend from foe? The pure manipulation that Ali has endured over the past year has hardened her resolve and heart. Simply put, Ali Damien is no longer going to be part of anyone's game. As Ali keeps looking to the future, will she forage a new path for herself or find herself back on the roads previously traveled?
Eric Damien is a haunted man. The demons he faced in the past have made him into the demon he has become. When faced with the very real and almost absolute reality of losing Ali, Eric is forced to self reflect and determine who he will be. With all sides of Eric's life folding in on him, he finds the inner strength he has always possessed crumbling. Can he slay the demons of old to fix himself and possible his marriage? Or has his past actions forever marked him a beast?

As I stated in my first review, THIS BOOK WAS WORTH THE WAIT!!! The plot twists and turns throughout the entire book kept me on my toes and my interest peaked. With the dynamics of Ali and Eric bringing the reader through good and bad, I couldn't wait to know the ending. I found the journey of the characters refreshingly real in many ways and the vast depravity Lulu Astor has created in this book is inspiring (in a wickedly good way). I did find myself having to fill in some of the plot or automatically fix small errors, which is why I could only give a 3.5. As much as Eric evolved and matured as a character, I found the very opposite of Ali and it was hard for me to accept given all she has been through. Despite this, I really enjoyed this book and the compelling back stories that were given to many of the supporting characters. I really thought that by giving the reader the bigger picture with everyone, it made for a more in-depth book overall. I must caution that this book is not for the faint of heart or those who love 'hearts and flowers' kind of romance. This series requires an open mind to the ugliness of human nature and the twisted web that life can weave.
